Shaped nappies will fit baby more snugly.
They often have an integrated fleece liner but will need to be covered with a waterproof outer.
They are made from many types of material including;
Terry, Organic terry, Micro-terry, Brushed cotton, Hemp and Bamboo

ADVANTAGES
Easy to use - no folding required.
Neat fitting.
Good adjustment to fit babies.
Good containment.
Different levels of absorbency for different nappies, therefore can mix and match the different sorts for your particular circumstances.
Many shaped nappies have a choice of fastening.
Some shaped nappies are easily boosted for more absorbency.
Many shaped nappies have a liner integrated.
Cute.
Different materials mean there is usually a type of nappy that will meet your requirements, whether it is quick drying or environmentally friendly material.
Shaped nappies made from micro-terry are very quick drying and dry really well even without a tumble-dryer.
Using shaped nappies makes nappy changing fun.

DISADVANTAGES
More expensive than flat nappies.
For sized nappies you will need to buy 2 sizes for the time your baby is in nappies.
Birth to Potty nappies mean you only need to buy 1 size of nappy but they can be bulky on a newborn.
Longer to dry than flat nappies:
Bamboo and Hemp takes longest to dry
Terry is quicker
Micro-terry is very quick drying.

Be careful with the wraps you choose to use, not all wraps will fit well over all shaped nappies.

Rule of thumb - If your baby is bigger choose Bimbles and Harmony Hemp. Bumbles are more suited for the average build baby.
